home>>what is neuromuscular dentistry (nmd)protocol?

Neuromuscular dentistry (NMD) is all about the science of creating a harmonious atmosphere among the muscles of mastication, the temporo mandibular joint and the teeth so that neither compensation nor compromise happens in any of the above three constituents of the stomatognathic triad. It enables the dentist to practice more precisely keeping the general well-being of the patient in the mind. NMD is divided into Addition NMD and Reduction NMD to help teach better. The Right BiteTM, conceptualised by Dr. Raj’s company Indra Craniofacial Pain Relief India LLP, has tied up with ICCMO (International College of Cranio Mandibular Orthopedics) to teach NMD and its protocol followed in India. ICCMO is the only worldwide organisation for NM dentists. And ICCMO India was officially ratified on 31st March 2017 at Buenos Aires, Argentina during its 19th International Congress. The courses have been designed in such a way so that a participant can start from the basics and then
go one to master the science; following it up with ICCMO’s Fellowship and Mastership programmes. Course1 is the introduction webinar that is provided to the participant upon registration in any course. The Course2 is the basic course and is conducted as 2 modules twice a year. One batch is in February & August and the next in November & June. Once the participant is fluent in the basic TENS bite registration, learning to use the Mandibular Tracking devices is the next step, which is Course3.
Course3, Course4 and Course5 are in-house programmes in Bangalore and are conducted according to the time convenience of both Dr. Raj and the participant. Course8 is the Reduction NMD course which is conducted every year in October. Course6 is the Dental Sleep Medicine course which is held once every year in September. This can be followed up with the Course7 under the guidance of Dr. Dave Singh, which will enable the participant to be an authorized DNA Appliance provider. Being a member of ICCMO India is pertinent to adopting NMD in a practice. The annual membership fee is Rs. 6500/- and entitles the member to receiving a free copy of the ICCMO anthology. All meetings under ICCMO India would be free for the members until further notice. The membership also allows the members to pursue ICCMO’s Fellowship and Mastership. The Fellowship is conferred upon completing 3 cases as per the protocol. The Mastership is conferred after the successful completion of the Fellowship and a thesis presentation.
